He was able to bridge the two worlds of music the white (American Bandstand) world and the world of black soul music. This amazing music was there just not on television we would see the occasional black artist on Ed Sullivan or America Bandstand these were mostly Motown artist up until this time.

He showed us that society could step over that line and expose audiences to amazing artist like Curtis Mayfield, The Manhattans, The Chi lites and Rick James and so many more. We will miss you very much,  you had and always will be the epitome of Soul.
